Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy S10 Launch Details Leak, Revealing Release Date, Sizes & UK Prices

Listen up, Samsung fans: we've got a bumper leak about the upcoming Galaxy S10 for you.
Some details of the new phone have already slipped out, but a source at a major tech retailer has now approached us with the S10 launch date, release date, storage sizes, screen sizes, variants, some features and even the UK price points.
Excited? We are. Here's the news.

Samsung Galaxy S10 launch and release dates

The S10 (as we're assuming it's named – it's still being called 'Beyond' within Samsung, so there's a chance the final public name will be something else) will launch at a Samsung Unpacked event before Mobile World Congress 2019, on the 20th of February.
The phone will be available for preorder from that date, and will then be released on Friday the 8th of March.

Samsung Galaxy S10 features

Our source (who has verified their identity) tells us there'll be three versions of the S10: the regular version, a Plus version, and a flat version – interesting to hear they're bringing back the non-curved screen.
As we suspected already, the S10 will have the Infinity O display, aka the doughnut or hole-punch design whereby a hole's made in the front of the screen to contain the selfie camera and avoid having a notch. Samsung has just unveiled a phone with this feature: the Galaxy A8.
Like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the S10 will be able to wirelessly charge other devices with a feature they're calling Powershare. We don't yet know the battery sizes, though.
The Galaxy S10 will indeed have an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and as previously leaked by Evan Blass, it'll be ultrasonic.
Few preliminary Galaxy S10 details:

- "Punch hole" style selfie cam cutout (sounds like Infinity-O display).
- Ultrasonic, in-display FPS
- Three rear cameras (standard/wide/tele)
- One UI over Android Pie
522 people are talking about this
Rather than the cheaper optical fingerprint sensor on phones like the OnePlus 6T, it'll use ultrasound waves to read the ridges of your finger in 3D, which is a heck of a lot more secure than the 2D picture an optical scanner gathers by bouncing light off your finger.
As we suspected, there'll be no iris scanner on the S10: no news on updated facial recognition, though.

Samsung Galaxy S10 screen sizes

The regular version of the Galaxy S10 will have a 6.1-inch screen. The Plus (or whatever it ends up called) will have a 6.4-inch screen, while the cheaper 'flat' version of the phone will be 5.8 inches.
This information corresponds to the screen sizes leaked to Evan Blass by a case manufacturer last week.
Another case leak strongly hints that the phone will still have a regular 3.5mm headphone jack, but we don't have confirmation of that yet.

Samsung Galaxy S10 storage sizes and UK prices

Here's the good stuff.
The flat, 5.8-inch version of the S10 will have 128GB of storage and retail at £669.
The regular, curved version of the S10 with its 6.1-inch screen will come in a choice of 128GB or 512GB of storage (crikey!) at £799 and £999 respectively.
The S10 Plus is where it gets really exciting, though: there'll be a 128GB version for £899, a 512GB version breaking the thousand pound barrier at £1099, and a one terabyte Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus for a bank-breaking £1399.
We're not sure many people will actually buy that one, but it'll certainly grab Samsung some headlines. It's also not clear if it's the same model as the rumoured 6.7-inch special edition with six cameras previously reported by the Wall Street Journal.

5G and other features

While we know from a previous leak that the S10 will likely have three cameras on the back, we don't have any more info on that yet, or whether it'll include the 48MP sensor that was recently announced. Doesn't look as if it'll have four cameras like the already-announced Galaxy A9, though.
We do know that unsurprisingly, 5G services won't be available on the S10 at launch, or in Q1 2019 at all. Our source tells us it'll be "late Q2 at the earliest."
That'll give them time to fix the emo notch, at least.
We've emailed Samsung for comment, in the unlikely event that someone feels like confirming or denying the information. It doesn't seem likely, but we'll update this post if there's anything to be said. But what do you reckon of these leaks? Would you buy a 1TB phone for £1400? Let us know in the comments, because at this point we're pretty much at Full Hype and need people to talk to about it.

Roll on February.

Samsung kills heapdhone jack in its new phone, a first for the company

It's also the first Samsung phone to have the Infinity-O display

MANILA, Philippines – Samsung had, at several times in the past, made fun of the fact its main rival Apple – and to a lesser extent, Huawei and several other phone makers – removed the headphone jack from some of their phones.
This week, Samsung finally joined the fray. Their new phone, the Samsung Galaxy A8s, ditched the traditional 3.5 mm audio port, leaving users to either use a Bluetooth or USB-C pair or use a USB-C-to-3.5 mm adapter.
In the past, Samsung had touted the fact that their phones retain the use of the headphone jack. That changed on Monday, December 10, the date of the reveal of the A8s at an event held in China, as reported by GizmoChina.
The A8s isn't only the first Samsung phone to lose the jack. It's also the first phone to feature a laser-drilled hole on one corner of the screen, containing the camera. Samsung calls it the Infinity-O display, which it announced earlier in November. It's Samsung's solution to the same problem that the notch solved: having a spot to put a front camera on a display with no bezels.

Apple popularized the notch with the iPhone X back in 2017, with several other phone makers following the design. Samsung wasn't one of them, however, likely as Apple was their biggest rival.
While this is the first modern Samsung smartphone to not have an audio jack, some future models may still get the jack including the upcoming Galaxy S10 flagship.
The A8s' other key features include a Snapdragon 710 chip, a 6.4-inch display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 6 to 8 GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and Android 8.1 Oreo. It has 3 rear cameras: a standard one, a telephoto, and one for bokeh. A 24-megapixel camera resides in the front hole.
No price and availability details have been announced.

Hi Mi Fans!
Along with well deserved Optimization, improvisation is always expected in every MIUI updates. The release of MIUI 10 has set the parameters to make users satisfied either by its new UI or by the new add-ons.

Notification helps us in Instant access to important and relevant messages/information that makes smartphones so prevalent and clutch in our lives. But if that data is personal, you don’t want it showing up on your lock screen for anyone to peep over and see, or you might feel annoying to receive the notifications again and again. We usually avoid this. With MIUI 10, it now gives you the flexibility to set as per your preference.

How to manage your notifications?
1. From your Home menu, swipe down to view your notification which you want to manage.
2. Now swipe to left to head on to the Settings.

Samsung’s A8s is its first phone with an Infinity-O hole-punch display

Image: Samsung
Following hot on the heels of today’s Honor View 20 tease, Samsung has announced a phone of its own that’ll make use of its new Infinity-O display. The Samsung A8s features a distinctive “hole-punch” design for the phone’s selfie camera located at the top left of the display.
Samsung has said it intends to debut new features on mid-range phones firstafter ceding so much ground to its Chinese rivals. The A8s is a good example of this strategy.
Outside of that unique 6.4-inch (2340 x 1080 pixel) display, the phone — which doesn’t yet have an official price — is a fairly standard mid-range affair. The A8s is powered by a Snapdragon 710 with options for either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage with up to 512GB of expansion via microSD. On the back it’s got the same triple-camera array as the Galaxy A7, while the front-side selfie camera contained within the cutout has a 24 megapixel sensor.
The Samsung A8s has three cameras on the rear, with a single selfie camera hole-punched into the screen.
Image: Samsung
If 2018 was the year of the display notch, then it’s looking as though 2019 will be the year of the hole-punch. The A8s announcement brings the confirmed number of hole-punch handsets up to three. We’re expecting to see Huawei’s Nova 4 on December 17th, while the View 20 is due to be officially announced on December 26th in China with a worldwide launch to follow on January 22nd. Meanwhile pre-orders for Samsung’s own A8s are due to open on December 21st.
It’s unclear which of these handsets will be the first to actually be released to consumers, and unclearer still if or when they’ll be available to buy outside of China. Samsung’s 2019 S10 flagship is also rumored to feature the Infinity-O display, but this is yet to be confirmed by the company.

Nokia 9 PureView delayed due to camera issue, could launch in early 2019: Report

Nokia 9 Pureview could be launched in 2019, as an HMD Global executive stated that the company was 'unhappy' with the quality of its rear cameras.

Nokia 9 Pureview could launch in 2019, claims a report from WinFuture.de. This cites an interview with HMD Global marketing head for Germany, Britta Gerbracht, during the local launch of Nokia 8.1. The upcoming phone, to be the world’s first with five rear cameras, is expected to be Nokia’s first to carry PureView branding.

At the Germany launch event, Gerbracht was quoted using the ‘Nokia 9’ name on a few occasions, referring to it as an ‘upcoming flagship’ with a ‘delayed launch’. As per the WinFuture report, the company has claimed to have experienced quality issues with the camera configuration, which would eliminate the chances of it being launched by the year-end. It further states that the smartphone company had recently held discussions with smartphone component maker Foxconn, who have faced ‘challenges’ during production.
Recent reports have suggested that the upcoming Nokia flagship has been delayed to cater to the sale of recently launched phones. The company had launched Nokia 7.1 in India last month, and is expected to launch Nokia 8.1 on December 10. Given that the last flagship device launched was the Nokia 8 Sirocco, that debuted in March, HMD Global would plan to offer a viable sale period for these phones, before announcing the Nokia 9 Pureview.
